Why word-choice matters in writing: an example

Consider this:

“There was a bird in the tree.”

“There was a loerie in the gumtree.”

“There was a robin in the elm tree.”

Same number of words, no extra adjectives, describing the same thing, but see how much more interesting the second two sentences are?
